Care & Maintenance for Lovehound Beds & Cushions

DISCLAIMER

Following these guidelines will extend the lifespan of your Lovehound beds & cushions.

Lovehound beds & cushions are not intended to be left outdoors permanently or for long periods of time (i.e. days). Although water/liquid repellent, we do not recommend leaving the beds & cushions in the rain, water and/or other liquids.

We will not accept responsibility for product failure if we deem that our products have been left outdoors and/or exposed to excessive levels of water and/or other liquids.

Exposure to sunlight for extended periods may cause the fabric to fade and will compromise the liquid repellent coating. Excessive or long term exposure to liquids may stain the fabric, damage the beds & cushions fillings, and will compromise the liquid repellent coating.

Do not expose the beds & cushions to OILY SUBSTANCES, BLEACH, SOLVENTS, AND HARSH CHEMICALS. The repellent coating is only designed to protect against water and other "GENTLE" liquids. Do not use any products that contain highly toxic tetrachloride.

Washing Instructions

UNLIKE YOUR TYPICAL DOG BED, WE DO NOT RECOMMEND WASHING LOVEHOUND BEDS & CUSHIONS ON A REGULAR BASIS.

ONLY REMOVE BEDS & CUSHIONS COVERS AND WASH WHEN ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY i.e. stubborn stains and smelly residue.

WASHING & DRYING INSTRUCTIONS:

  • HAND WASH OR GENTLE MACHINE CYCLE IN COLD WATER.
  • LINE DRY AWAY FROM DIRECT SUN.
  • DO NOT USE A DRYER.
  • DO NOT DRY CLEAN.

General Maintenance

  • Vacuum regularly to avoid hair and dust build-up.
  • Wipe the fabric with a damp cloth and mild detergent when needed.
  • Attend to spills immediately to avoid stains.
  • Avoid spreading stain/spill spots to surrounding clean areas.
  • Do not force stain/spills onto the fabric, gently dab the area and repeat the steps until the spot is removed.

Hints

  • We recommend that you do not use any cleaning agent without first testing in a hidden area.
  • Please make certain that all cleaning products are completely rinsed/wiped off the fabric, as failure to do so may cause a loss of repellent properties.
  • Use a mild detergent when necessary, liquid laundry products that are "eco" and biodegradable are strongly recommended.
  • If your dog soils its bed, use a damp cloth to wipe off the spill, then spray with a bio-enzymatic product specifically made to remove dog urine, urine stains and odors (e.g. Urine Off).
  • If a stain/spill has dried, try lightly brushing off the residual with a soft kitchen brush. Wipe with water. Do not scrub or use abrasive products.
  • Rotate the beds & cushions to distribute wear.
